Assad Saifullah Khan aka DJ Barrister is a 33 year old practicing lawyer based in Islamabad. He started out as a guitarist during his early days, learning both acoustic and electric guitar at the age of 12 and playing in various rock bands throughout high school. At the University of Pennsylvania he joined the prestigious Penn Glee Club, which is the oldest continuing performing arts group in American colleges, and took center stage performing in fully choreographed musicals until he graduated in 2004. Near the end of his college days, Assad caught the DJing bug, and purchased his own turntables when he moved to London for law school. There he played in small bars and clubs in East London/Hoxton/Shoreditch. During trips to Mykonos in 2005 and Ibiza in 2006, Assad heard the real underground sound of house, trance and techno, and incorporated it into his own sets. Since moving back to Pakistan in 2007, DJ Barrister has become a household name, spinning regularly all over Pakistan at events in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad. Over the last decade, he has shared the stage with EDM luminaries like Sydney Blu, Patrick Hagenaar, Sander Kleinenberg and Jimmy Van M. He has also opened for artists like Ali Zafar, Akcent and Josh at various concerts. DJ Barrister is certified in electronic music production and has completed courses from Point Blank Academy and Garnish in Logic and Ableton. He has a soundproof music studio in his house where he spends most of his free time.
